Well, I’ve lived here about 33 years. Other than glaciers, there are hot springs, hot pools, hunting pigs, goats, deer, geese and ducks, fishing for salmon and trout, gold panning, climbing and tramping through the native bush, flightless birds like kiwis, kakapos, wekas and takahe, interesting train rides, walking along the beach and in the mountains, local food like crayfish, whitebait, pauas (abalone), oysters, clams, mussels, local wines, some of the best chocolate and ice cream in the world, volcanos, trips to Antarctica, sea fishing, no poisonous animals, some good museums and cheap places to stay. cruises, fishing, train journeys, hiking, unique animals.
world class ski-ing, world class jet boating,
world class bungee jumping!
New Zealanders enjoy living in an idyllic and slightly isolated country. The pressures and pace of life in the northern hemisphere are largely unknown to them.
The people are proud, but can be friendly and open.
Don’t expect servitude, and it remains possible to encounter people unused to providing a high standard of service…but the country is beautiful and you are unlikely to regret your visit. References :

there is also sky diving, cave exploring at waitomo with glow worms, plenty of museums,a few good art galleries and some maritime museums, as well as historical places like maori villages, and the kauri coast where gum/resin diggers used to mine. ‘Kelly Tarlton’s Antarctic Encounter and Underwater World’ which is hard to explain but the name kind of suggests… a few casino’s References : born and bred 19 years
