Titirangi is regarded as one of New Zealand’s top courses and is the only one in the country designed by Dr. Alister MacKenzie. MacKenzie’s designs are notable for their sensitivity to the nature of the original site and he is admired for producing holes that offer an ideal balance of risk and reward. After designing Titirangi in 1927, MacKenzie went on to design some of the world’s top courses including Augusta, Cypress Point and Royal Melbourne.
2009 saw the finish of an extensive multi-million dollar upgrade programme, confirming Titirangi’s reputation as the best golf course in Auckland. The par 70 course features elevated tees, rolling fairways, challenging bunkers and greens with pronounced undulations. Its par 3’s face the four points of the compass so no matter what the weather conditions, you experience a different test on each hole.
Titirangi Golf Club has a long history of hosting great players from all over the world and has been the venue for many international tournaments, including the New Zealand Open Championship. The course is just over 6025 metres off the championship tees and offers a genuine challenge to golfers of all levels. We look forward to welcoming you with our Kiwi hospitality, only 20 minutes from Auckland City.
Conceived in 1914, Titirangi Golf Club began on a course at One Tree Hill in Auckland and grew with the development of Auckland City both as a place to play golf and as a social outlet for its many members. In 1919 it added its own course at New Lynn to the leased land on the Hill.
In 1927, the great golf course architect Dr. Alister MacKenzie re-designed the New Lynn course to make it both an outstanding test of golf and a truly beautiful place to play the game. He called the land "exceptionally well adapted for golf, undulating, without being hilly". He later went on to design legendary courses such as Augusta National, Royal Melbourne and Cypress Point. Today Titirangi is consistently rated as one New Zealand's top five courses.
