The Course

The par 73 course measures 6162m off the blue tees (slope 132), 5772m off the standard men’s tees (slope 129) and 5341m of the women’s tees (slope 136). For those lower handicapped women looking for an even greater challenge, we have also rated the men’s tees for women.

The 349m, par 4 first is the signature hole with a good, straight drive important if you wants a chance of starting your round with a par. The views towards Mercury Bay are sensational, no matter what the weather.

Holes three to eight have water features, as does the 17th while all except the 12th and 16th holes have out of bounds.

The course is open all year round, so if you want to play one of New Zealand’s best kept golfing secrets “Come play The Dunes”

The Golf Shop

The Dunes golf shop is open seven days a week, with reduced hours Monday and Tuesday during winter. We are open Wednesday to Sunday 8am – 4pm throughout the year.

We stock a range of golfing products and related items including balls, tees and gloves. We also provide a range of leisure clothing with The Dunes logo. Hire clubs and trundlers are available while our fleet of golf carts provides an option to walking and takes all the effort out of the round.

"Spectacular"
Reviewed 12 August 2015

This place has it all. The accommodation was spectacular and the service second to none. The Golf course was magnificent with panoramic, breath taking views of pristine beaches. We highly recommend a stay even if you are not a golfer ; the beach walks , the accommodation and the hospitality are excellent. Not to be missed if you are a golfer the course was challenging and amazing, best I've ever seen. We will be going back asap. This is an ideal spot for a group of golfers to rent out and stay for a least a couple of days. The Villla we stayed in could have accommodated two couples and two adults or if a group of men sharing 6 people easily. The Villa's are located on the golf course so in the evening when you have finished playing ; watching other golfers sitting on your balcony with a glass of wine/beer is your evening entertainment. I can't wait to go back in the summer and enjoy the restaurant and bar which looked so cosy and the meals sounded mouth watering. We can't say enough about the Dunes.

“Brilliant”

I have now been down and stayed and played at The Dunes twice in 4 weeks, just a great golf course, great accommodation, great food and bar facilities, and on top of that absolutely great value!
You cannot beat 3 rounds of golf, 3 golf carts, 2 nights accommodation, 2 x 3 course meals and 2 x breakfasts for only $389.00 - that's right people all that for only $389.00!!!; and to help things out more, the bar prices are only $6 for a beer.
Ill be back again with another 11 golfers for more fun and frivolity.

“Will keep coming back to The Dunes”

Four mates on our bi-annual golf trip. Played here a couple of years ago, and decided we'd come back and stay here playing two days. We were very glad we did. Love this course. We stayed in the villas which was perfect for us. Plenty of room, and great being right on the edge of the course.
