We spent nearly 5 hours with John. Our first time fishing for trout on the beautiful Lake Tarawera. John's boat is plenty big enough for 6 -8 people to fish from. His local knowledge of trout fishing techniques and spots was invaluable. At no time did John rush us. We caught 7 trout! John phoned through to pour accommodation and alerted them to us having fish so that it could be included in our meal that evening (beautiful) On the way back we stopped near Hot Water Beach and had a soak in the thermal stream while John gutted the fish. Back to the jetty and John advised on smoking of the remaining fish. A perfect day - thanks John, we will return with friends and family.

“Truly Life Changing!”

My wife and I had the privilege of going out on a full day of guided fly fishing with one of Johns partners in action, Dave. I had the pleasure of meeting John, and he was extremely friendly and pleasant to be around, however, Dave was of equal stature.(He was awesome) Dave had so much knowledge about the amazing sport of fly fishing that I could spend an entire week with the guy just learning new things. He showed us around places that you would not have had the opportunity to do so with anyone else. This included streams with trophy fish that you better bring your "A" game for because the 10 pound fish you read about are real and alive. Getting them to bite takes skill, but getting them worn out and bagged is the hard part (-; I assure Dave will give you plenty of opportunities for some Big Brownies and some Bows thats are in the 3.5-8 pound range depending on season. Best experience ever...do your research about New Zealand Site Fishing and I am sure you will have a truly life changing experience. Cheers.
P.S. practice your "Roll Casts" Forward and Reverse, other wise Dave or John can help you with this very quickly.
